In 2017 a bunch of keen footballers that met whilst studying at Solent University in Southampton, formed a team and joined the Sunday Night Student League. They settled on the team name Oceana, which derived from a night club of the same name and in their first season finished a respectable 4th. The majority of the team had never previously played together, having all played their football at different levels across different counties including Devon, Essex, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire and Surrey.

In 2018 Oceana once again signed up to the Sunday Night Student League, with the core of the squad remaining from the previous season. Dimil Patel, Daniel Allwirght, Charlie Budd and Isaac Springett were a few notable arrivals, adding much needed defensive solidity and stability to an already talented team. In their second season Oceana went the whole campaign unbeaten, conceding only one goal and being crowned rightful champions.

In 2019, Oceana FC affiliated to the Essex FA and played in Division 1 of the Essex Sunday Corinthian Football League. The club also competed in two Corinthian Cup competitions as well as the Essex County Junior Cup and West Essex Sunday Charity Cup.

The 2022/23 Season will again see Oceana Compete in Division 1 of the Essex Sunday Corinthian Football League.
